Dramatic Steps for the Green Initiative to Move Forward
There is a daily struggle at all government levels for a reasonable renewable answer for clean energy, job creation and legislation. Below are a few steps we believe would make drastic movement forward in the green initiative.
- Federal legislation that sends a clear message to the investment community that the United States is serious about reducing our dependency on oil and non-renewable sources. There needs to be a public policy that requires all federal, state and municipal buildings to meet specific energy efficiency requirements and equipment used or purchased by the government to be purchased on the life-cycle cost instead of the initial upfront cost.
- A policy that requires states that receive federal funding to follow the above policies, and to enforce the policies within that states towns and counties receiving state funding.
- All federal, state, and municipal RFPs issued are mandated to include some level of apprenticeship, and on the job training for displaced workers in a specific workforce development region. The U.S. needs to quantify the number of sustainable jobs that could be created and enforce the adaptation of the new economy.
